Jay Leno - Leno Set For Gay Pride Rally

U.S. TV host JAY LENO is determined to put his recent controversial remarks about homosexuality behind him - by appearing at a gay pride event.

The chat show king sparked outrage among gay rights groups by asking actor Ryan Phillippe to give him his "gayest look" during an interview.

Phillippe recently revealed his first paid acting role was as a gay teen on TV soap One Life To Live, and comic Leno decided to poke fun at his admission when he was a guest on his late night show in March (08). He was subsequently forced to apologise for his comments.

But Leno has now signed up to appear at a gay marriage celebration and rally in West Hollywood on Thursday (05Jun08) night, alongside gay Grey's Anatomy star T.R. Knight.

California recently legalised gay marriage and the event will see a group of couples tie the knot in celebration of the state's new law - and Leno insists he will attend to voice his support for the cause.

A spokesperson for the event says, "He said that he is from Massachusetts and that the sky did not fall in their state when marriage equality became the law of the land there.

"He wants to impress upon everyone here in California that the sky will not fall here either."

EastEnders bosses to axe Mickey and Keith

'EastEnders' is to axe son and stepfather duo Mickey and Keith Miller because bosses at the soap feel the characters have "run out of steam".
The characters - who have been played by actors Joe Swash and David Spinx since 2003 and 2004 respectively - were told by executive producer Diederick Santer on Friday that their contracts would not be renewed.
A friend of 26-year-old Swash told The Sun: "He and David were told their characters had run out of steam by 'EastEnders' boss Diederick Santer. Joe was stunned at first. He's loved playing Mickey and felt the fans still enjoyed watching his antics."
The friend added: "But he soon realised if the stories weren't there, he didn't want to be just going through the motions. He's now thinking over his next move carefully. He doesn't want to become just another former soap star."

Hammond quits new home after just 70 hours

Top Gear's Richard Hammond was in his new home for just 70 hours before deciding to move back to his old one.
Hammond, 38, soon realised the new place was not for him - and now faces a nightmare bill of up to €60,000 for changing his mind.
The TV presenter and his family left their rented farmhouse in Gloucestershire for a new home in Buckinghamshire on Friday.
However, he lasted only three days in the property before deciding that the change in "lifestyle" didn't suit him.
He told the Mirror newspaper: "It only took us a couple of days to realise we were changing a lifestyle that suits us. It's an expensive lesson.
"I got there first, ready for the removal men. And as they started unloading, I began to wonder. Everything was smart, and rather posh and lovely, but could we fit in?
"When Mindy and the girls arrived, I thought 'This isn't right'."

Lily Allen's TV show fails to attract viewers

Lily Allen's new talk show failed to attract a significant number of viewers, when it aired as part of BBC3's re-launch on Tuesday night.
The pop singer has turned TV presenter with 'Lily Allen and Friends', yet the high profile TV show attracted just 255,000 viewers, around 2% of the audience share according to reports.
The first night guests were Hollywood actor Cuba Gooding Jr and comedian David Mitchell.
Despite the figures a spokeswoman for the digital channel said: "It's a solid start for the show. It's only the first one but it performed really well with the 16-34 age group."
Some audience members were reported to have walked out of the recording because they were so bored.
But Allen, 22, wrote in her MySpace blog: "The audience were great, standing in a hot studio for two hours watching me fluff my lines is not my idea of fun, but they seemed to enjoy it."
She continued: "Due to it being the first show we've done, we ran over a little and naturally a small number of the audience had to catch the last trains back to wherever they came from."
Allen recently suffered a miscarriage and said she was "trying to get back to normality after what has been a rocky start to the year".

Anderson scraps her divorce plans

Former 'Baywatch' star Pamela Anderson has reportedly reconciled with her third husband just three days after filing for divorce.
In a divorce petition filed in Los Angeles on Friday Anderson cited "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for the breakdown of her two-month marriage to Rick Salomon.
However, yesterday she posted a message on her website diary saying: "We're working things out."
The diary entry did not give any further details and the actress' representative declined to comment on the subject.
Celebrity website TMZ reported that the divorce was no longer going ahead, quoting a source close to the couple, who said that they had patched up their relationship.
Anderson and Salomon married in Las Vegas last October. This is the third marriage for both.

Dave Matthews Band Plugging Away

Collaborative album in the works

The Dave Matthews Band is emphasizing the "band" part of its equation on the group's next album. "It literally was a collaborative effort from beginning to end," violinist Boyd Tinsley tells Billboard.com. "Every song was written by everybody at the same time -- we've never really done that before."
"We all got together and played and got these ideas, and we'd all work through building these songs all together," he continues. "Everybody's just really excited about it. That's why I say it sounds very much like DMB. It couldn't be more purely DMB than what it is."
But the album, DMB's first since 2005's chart-topping "Stand Up," is a long way from done. The group, along with guitarist Tim Reynolds and producer Rob Cavallo, got together early in the year in Charlottesville, Va., to start working on ideas, then in March continued in Seattle to be closer to Matthews' home.
Tinsley says the songs have been composed and are now waiting for Matthews to write lyrics, with a plan to return to the studio after the group comes off the road in early September.
Tinsley says the music "sounds very much like DMB, but like songs you've never heard before." He says the "vibe, the whole mood of the songs" reminds him of album such as "Under the Table and Dreaming," "Crash" and "Before These Crowded Streets" but "coming from an entirely different direction" and benefiting from having Reynolds' guitar back in the mix for the first time since "...Crowded Streets."
"Tim just sort of expands upon things," Tinsley explains. "He's such an amazing musician. [He] adds this quality to the music that opens it up."
The new songs are still in such an unfinished form, however, that Tinsley isn't sure if any of them will be debuted during DMB's extensive summer tour, which begins May 30 in Burgettstown, Pa., and runs through Sept. 10 at New York's Madison Square Garden.
"It might be a situation where we might take a couple of those in rehearsals and in sound checks and sort of work out arrangements to play this summer," he says. "We haven't really discussed that too much. That's the sort of thing that really comes spontaneously when we get together."
